Three Questions with Wanda N. Ray,
County Administrator for Bolivar County

What do you like best about your Job?
Part of my job is to serve as liaison between the Bolivar County Board of Supervisors and other elected and appointed officials on governmental issues. I enjoy sharing this knowledge with the public to better utilize our county services and to extend the efficiency of the Board.

What do you like best about living in Bolivar County?
I have lived in Bolivar County all of my life. The rich history of the Delta, the diverse cultures, and the strong community involvement is a blend that I feel is unique to Bolivar County alone. We are all so fortunate to live in a place that offers good healthcare, educational opportunities, and a safe healthy environment in which to live and raise our families.

How could Bolivar County be improved?
Many of the social problems in Bolivar County would improve considerably with the creation of new job opportunities. Economic developers tell us that a trainable workforce is essential in attracting industry to our area. This can only be accomplished through education and vocational training or our available workforce. Bolivar County could also be improved if more citizens were involved in city and county government issues. The future of Bolivar County depends on strong effective leaders. Far too many citizens allow government leaders to make all the decisions by failing to vote. Less than half of Bolivar County's registered voters actually exercise their constitutional right to vote.
