This past Tuesday night at the DSU Bologna Performing Arts Center, gubernatorial candidates Democrat Governor Ronnie Musgrove and Republican challenger Haley Barbour delivered perhaps their most exciting exchange in the third of four debates. Sponsored
by WABG-TV6 and the Delta Business Journal, just as the
lights in the audience were dimmed and the stage lights were turned
on, the circus atmosphere began. |
Journey
to Clarksdale |

filming of Journey To Clarksdale at Ground Zero is being rescheduled
for the Spring of 2004. However, the ten days between October 17th
and October 26th in Clarksdale will still offer treats for true
blues fans with local juke joints and clubs presenting a wide variety
of blues. Blues Panel
This program will document artistic response to mass commercialization from the other side of the tracks, from the point of view of rural Mississippi blues musicians. This discussion will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2003 from 1- 3 p.m. It is free to the public. This event is sponsored in part by a grant from the Mississippi Humanities Council. |

Dr.
James Eugene Williams of Benoit with his wife, Willie Moorman, and
young son, Jimmy. Dr. Williams was one of the country's first family
practitioners and original "horse and buggy" doctor who
practiced first at Bolivar and later at Benoit. Circa 1901.

will be presenting their second annual Haunted House at the Old
Bayou Academy in Skene. The theme of the haunted house this year
is Skene Scream Scenes. Tickets are 4.00 at the door, or you may
purchase them in advance by calling 843-4007. Grades K-12 can get
their tickets for 3.00 when they present a flyer we are handing
out, or by bringing something with them from their school. Skene
Scream Scenes will be begin on October 30-Nov1 from 730pm-1am nightly.
