The
Transportation Appropriations bill includes $5.925 million
for paving a portion of I-69 in DeSoto County, $3 million
for the Byram-Clinton/Norrell Corridor in Hinds County, and
$1 million for the Canal Road Connector in Harrison County.
The bill also provides $4 million for construction of the
South Nissan Interchange near Canton and $2 million for Highway
19 expansions near Philadelphia.
The
conferees provided $1 million for the Tri-County Automated
System Project for the three coastal counties and $2 million
for expansion of I-55 from Church Road to the Tennessee State
line. The bill also included $2.5 million for the I-20 Frontage
Road in Vicksburg and $1.75 million for a Welcome Center on
Highway 90 at the Ohr-O' Keefe Museum of Art.
The
bill directs the FAA to give priority to airport improvement
projects at a number of Mississippi airports, including Gulfport-Biloxi
Regional Airport, Jackson International Airport, Olive Branch
Airport, Philadelphia Municipal Airport, McComb-Pike County
Airport, Winona-Montgomery County Airport, Mid-Delta Regional
Airport, Greenwood-Leflore Airport, and Bruce Campbell Field
in Madison.
The
bill includes $5 million for the Hattiesburg Intermodal Facility,
$1.5 million to mitigate grade crossing hazards in the Gulf
Coast High Speed Rail Corridor, $3 million for Intermodal
facilities at Jackson International Airport, and $500,000
for improvements to the Farish Street Historic District. The
bill will be sent to the President for his signature after
the conference report is adopted by the House and the Senate.
