21st Annual OCTOBERFEST & CUSTOM CAR SHOW to be held this weekend

The Delta Jazz Society to host performance


The Delta Jazz Society will be hosting a concert featuring the Nova Jazz Quartet Saturday October 18th from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. at KC's in Cleveland.

"The Nova Jazz Quartet" features saxophonist Alphonso Sanders, bassist John Birdsong, pianist Gerald Stephens, and drummer Chad Anderson. The quartet plays in the tradition of jazz history with a distinct sound developed from various background of each membeer. The group was organized by Alphonso Sanders in efforts to present concerts and clinics to foster jazz education.

Tickets for the event are $25 and include heavy hors d'oeuvres well as event admission. Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting KC's at 662 - 843 - 5301 or Coopwood Communications at 662 - 843- 2700.

Wood receives BellSouth Award
Carolyn Manning, BellSouth Telecommunications regional manager, at left, presents Clint Wood, professor of business law at Delta State University, the BellSouth Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award. Wood was recently selected to receive the award by the Student Business Advisory Council at the 2003 College of Business Awards Banquet. In addition to the plaque, Wood received a cash award.
