The Founder and Creative Director of Inca Son, Cesar Villalobos, is a multi-talented musician, dancer, composer, and teacher whose Peruvian roots permeate his artistic endeavors. The Son of a Shaman, Villalobos, was born in Ascope, Peru, where he was taught the knowledge of his culture’s indigenous arts. Beginning when he was five, and including his time spent in the acclaimed national dance troupe, Matices Peruanos, Villalobos has over 30 years of experience. He was also selected as the main attraction in Peru’s “Ancestor of the Incas” exhibition, and received the coveted “El Sol de Oro” prize from the National Press Advisors of Peru. In 1989 he formed Inca Son Music & Dance of the Andes.

Inca Son has released seven CDs, most recently Miskinawi (Tender Eyes), which takes listeners through a adventurous trek across the mountains of Peru, celebrating life, joy and the blessings of children. The group also engages themselves in teaching their culturally rich musical talents with others through educational workshops and programs. Because each song and dance has special significance and importance in Andean culture and folklore, each is briefly described before being performed. There are music workshops geared to age’s 10- through high school and dance workshops for the smallest of children all the way to adults. Inca Son also sponsor lecture workshops on Incan beliefs, traditions, philosophies, medicines, and values. The group is not only a performance troop but a highly developed instructional and educational organization with a lot of knowledge to share with the masses interested in other cultures. You can hear this group work their magic Saturday, September 27, 2003. If you need more information you may contact the ticket office at the DSU Bologna Performing Arts Center at (662) 846-4626.
