Special Meeting of the Blues Highway Association

We will have a special meeting of The Blues Highway Association on April 15th at 10am, in the Commissary of Hopson Plantation. Our speaker will be Robert Stanton, who will discuss the concept of Heritage Areas as
recognized by the National Park Service. This introduction will help our group explore the possibility of pursuing a Capital of the Blues National Heritage Area in the Mississippi Delta.

Robert Stanton was the Director of The National Park Service for the Clinton administration, and has good friends in both the Democratic and the
Republican Party. He is the only African American to ever Direct the Park Service. He is also the first Park Service Director to be confirmed by Congress, and one of a handful who actually worked their way up through the
ranks, starting as a temporary park ranger in 1962. Stanton is currently Visiting Professor in the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies at Yale University. He is a specialist in Heritage Areas, and a devoted fan
of the Blues.
