Balloonfest 2003 |
|
The
festival is held on Labor Day weekend. Hot air balloons
numbered 40 in the past years. The 2003 festival is slated
for August 29 through August 31. Private and corporate balloons
participate. Crowd estimates for attendance have averaged
over 10,000 the past years. The event is held in historic
downtown Greenville – home and heart of the Mississippi
Delta and the Delta Blues! The balloons glow atop the levee
that guards the Delta from the mighty Mississippi River.
The weekend event boasts hot air balloons, arts & crafts
vendors, food vendors, a motorcycle event, local talent
performances, headline entertainment, children’s games
and activities, sponsor meals, drawings & giveaways
and a pilot awards ceremony on Sunday to close the weekend.
