Delta Jazz Society created; first event
extremely successful

The newly formed Delta Jazz Society made its debut this past Saturday night at The Warehouse in Cleveland featuring The Bruce Dudley Jazz Quartet. Over 150 attended this special occasion. The organization was created to bring another dimension to music in the region. Once a month the organization will hold an evening of jazz in various towns and venues throughtout the Delta. Alponso Sanders, a member of the music department at Delta State University, is president of the society and a web site, www.deltajazz.org, will be forthcoming.

Bolivar Medical Center, Cleveland, welcomes two new members of the Sr. Management Team
George Williams, is the new Director of Human Resources. He comes to BMC after serving as Director of H.R. at Delta and Pine Land for twelve years.

Sharon Toler-Lewis is the new Chief Nursing Officer. She began her duties on August 4. Sharon is from the New Orleans area and was most recently the Director of Nursing Support Services at Meadowcrest Hospital. Sharon received her BS in Nursing at the University of Maryland and her Master's in Healthcare Administration from Tulane University.

Miss America visits Cleveland
In a special noon gathering of the Cleveland Rotary, Exchange, and Lions Clubs members and guests welcomed Miss America, Erika Harlod, as the featured speaker. Miss America spoke on her platform which deals with harassment, bullying, and abuse of children by classmates. In addition, she spoke about the ramifications of such misconduct and what action she has taken to alleviate this epidemic. Also present at the event were Allison Kellogg, Miss Mississippi and Marion Weeks, Miss DSU.

Miss America meets members of the Cleveland Rotary, Lions, and Exchange Clubs.
Reminder! Delta Running Club meets tonight!

Diabetic Support Group
Bolivar Medical Center will host a diabetic support group on August 27, at 1pm in the conference room at Bolivar Medical Center.

Delma Mitchell, RN, certified diabetic educator, from Sta-home Health Agency will be at the support group to present "MEAL PLANNING." (This will be the 1st of three diabetic classes.)

Tyler's Big Star has extended their hours from 8am to 8pm, and they are open Monday through Saturday. They have "The Best Beef In Town" and are located at 1013 Yale St. in Cleveland.



Starting Friday, August 22, The Lunchroom and The Warehouse will be extending their hours. They will be open til 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and til 9pm on Mondays. In addition, there are new additions to the menu including appetizers.
