2. UPDATE TO CLARKSDALE BLUES FEST LINE-UP...

Due to a booking conflict, Latimore has been replaced with Floyd Taylor as the Fri., Aug. 8 headliner for Clarksdale's Sunflower River Blues & Gospel Festival. As you may know, Floyd is the son of the late, great Johnnie Taylor and currently is touring in support of his successful Malaco CD "Legacy." (Latimore fans can catch him in St. Louis that night at Club 54 with Lee Shot Williams or contact the Rogers Reading booking agency to have him play your event.)

The rest of our festival line-up is included at the BOTTOM of this email.*

3. NEW AT CAT HEAD DELTA BLUES & FOLK ART...

- New DVD at Cat Head: "DEEP BLUES" is back!!! Robert Mugge's classic Memphis, TN to Greenville, MS blues journey is back on DVD with new packaging and plenty of extras. This is an essential release that includes footage of performers like R.L. Burnside, Jessie Mae Hemphill, Jr. Kimbrough, Big Jack Johnson, Lonnie Pitchford, Jack Owens, Booba Barnes and more - filmed in juke joints and private homes. Amazing! Just $18 this time around.

- New art at Cat Head: Plenty of new folk art pieces from Mississippi's L.V. Hull. From signs and shoes to a keyboard and a gas mask - she's truly painted it all this time! Our very affordable prices start at $10. Come in and see it all or email for photos. Everyone loves L.V.

5. HIGHWAY ONE GOSPEL & BLUES UPDATE...

The "Highway One Gospel & Blues Celebration" map of events is on the BKB Foundation website. The final list of musicians will be ready next week. It's taking time to get the names of the older folk who will sing the spirituals, and the complete list of local churches for gospel music. The Nigerian groups are still waiting for their visas, we have made all the right contacts and can only wait. The Saturday morning Gospel Celebration, at the Great River Road State Park, is in honor of Jessie Mae Hemphill. One of the best orators in Mississippi will speak at the Great Migration Memorial service on Sunday, in Gunnison. www.bkbfoundation.com info@bkbfoundation.com

10. BAD NEWS FROM OXFORD AMERICAN...

16 JULY 2003 -- "Because advertising revenues did not meet its expectations, the AT HOME MEDIA GROUP of Little Rock, Arkansas, is suspending publication of THE OXFORD AMERICAN magazine. This is very painful news; nonetheless, THE OA's editorial staff has chosen to stay together to do all they can to find new investors and continue publishing the magazine, in one incarnation or another."

It is the only magazine dedicated to exploring the American South, reaching a market of intelligent, sophisticated readers.
