Delta Magazine launch party at The Warehouse a great event

Last night, The Warehouse in Cleveland was the scene of the launch party for the Delta's new lifestyle magazine, Delta Magazine. The event was well attended by over 200 people and it was a great evening for the magazine according to publisher, Scott Coopwood.

"It was very exciting and we were so happy to see so many old and new friends," says Coopwood. Local jazz musician Alphonso Sanders provided the music for the evening.

Veteran Charlie Capps was saluted and honored at Delta State University

Veteran Charlie Capps was saluted and honored at Delta State University by a veteran affairs committee headed up by Charles Burnham, executive director of the state veteran affairs department, and Tom Logue. This committee was supported by the state veteran affairs board, and by numerous friends of Mr. Capps. Charlie Capps III stated, "it was fun seeing and dealing with his (Charlie Capps) old friends, and we really appreciated the portrait that was done. It was just a great time for everyone." Colonel Charlie Capps is a Cleveland native, who was born in Merigold.

Mississippi Arts Commission to host a Community Arts Day at annual Summer Institute

JACKSON- The Mississippi Arts Commission is offering a free day of workshops and arts events for local Arts Councils around the state at the fifth annual Whole Schools Initiative Summer Institute at Delta State University, July 20 - 25.

Feeding the Spirit of the Community: Partnering Arts Councils, Community Arts Organizations and Schools will be a daylong event, July 24, at Ewing Hall, Delta State University. Up to four people from an organization or local school may attend.

The Bean Counter was featured on a special section of a show called Blue Ribbon.

Last week The Bean Counter was featured on a nationally aired television show called Blue Ribbon. The local business was named one of the best coffee houses in the south. This special feature highlighted the coffeehouse and provided viewers with a glipse of the Cleveland area. Store owner, Laura Lindner, says "it was an honor to be chosen as one of the best coffee houses in the south." The Bean Counter is located near downtown Cleveland...where great ideas, great discussions and great relationships brew over great coffee.


A new addition to the Valley Court Square called Campus Cargo, Inc
The most recent addition to the valley court square is called Campus Cargo, Inc. The business specializes in apparel and embroidery as well as all things greek. They also sell a variety of gifts such as Allen Stewart purses, local mascots, and customized gift items. President, Brian Myres, would like to invite everyone to stop by and visit the new establishment located at 201 East Sunflower Road, Suite 10. Campus Cargo can be reached at 843-7383.
