Don Skelton to lead advancement at ULM

In 2002 Skelton was named Vice President for University Advancement. Prior to that appointment Skelton served as Associate Vice President for University Advancement. Since 1993 Skelton has served as Executive Director of the DSU Alumni Association and Foundation.

During a long career with Delta State, Skelton managed the University's first organized capital campaign. Under his leadership, The Campaign for Delta State exceeded (doubled) the initial goal of $5 million. Skelton solicited millions in naming opportunity gifts for the Bologna Performing Arts Center while establishing a programming endowment for the center. Additionally, he led fundraising efforts and assisted with defining investment opportunities resulting in the Foundation's Endowment growing by $7.7 million in less than 10 years. Scholarship monies provided by private donors also multiplied under Skelton by $163,700.

Dr. James Cofer, President of ULM, says, "Don Skelton has valuable experience within the advancement and public affairs divisions of a university. The experience he built in Mississippi should carry over and he will be a driving force in improving these divisions at ULM. We are fortunate to have Don on our team."

Skelton begins his new role with ULM August 1.
