| Are
you looking for fun, food, music, and fireworks with a family
atmosphere? Well, we have just the thing for you. Greenville Celebrates
America, an evening for adults and children, where everyone will
have a great time while they show how proud they are of their
country. Join your friends and neighbors over the levee in Schelben
Park for Greenville’s annual Independence Day Celebration,
from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Friday, July 4, 2003. The evening,
organized by the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce, will consist
of children’s activities beginning at 5:00 p.m. followed
by live entertainment at 7:00 p.m., with the climax of the evening
being a spectacular fireworks display at 10:00 PM.
For the kids, there will be a free moonwalk and giant inflatable
slide, both of which were tremendous hits last year. The Chamber
will also be selling the ever-popular glow necklaces and mouth
pieces.
Are you looking for great live entertainment? Well, we have four
hours of The Tyrone Smith Revue, considered one of the top show
and dance bands in the Southeast! This group sets the standard
when it comes to energetic, enthusiastic performances.
With their dynamic horn section and unsurpassed energy, the Tyrone
Smith Revue performs the latest Top 40, Beach Music & Motown,
and the fabulous 50’ s & 60’s. Visually and musically,
the Tyrone Smith Revue is a true southern tradition.
If that is not enough to fill your evening, then stick around
because at 10:00 pm the fireworks will be flying over Lake Ferguson.
This twenty-minute show will take your breath away with its explosions
of sound and dazzling color all choreographed to a patriotic sound
track.
With all this going on, we know you are going to get hungry, so
pack a picnic basket or sample the delicious assortment of food
provided by our vendors. There will be funnel cakes, pork skins,
barbeque, hamburgers, hot dogs, snow cones and much more! Just
remember, this is a family event and alcohol is not allowed.
This event would not be possible without the generous support
of these sponsors: City of Greenville, Washington County Convention
and Visitors Bureau, WXVT, WABG, Lighthouse Point Casino, Pepsi
Americas, and The King’s Daughters Hospital.
So grab a blanket and lawn chairs then come stake out your spot
on the levee, relax and enjoy the evening. For public safety reasons,
please, no alcohol, coolers, pets or personal fireworks.
